FluBot: Text Messages Impersonating Delivery Services Companies

FluBot is a banking trojan malware (sometimes known as Cabassous, FakeChat, and FedexBanker) that first emerged in 2021. This trojan taps into the popularity of eCommerce and delivery services to spread and distribute the banker trojan.

Victims receive a text message that pretends to be a delivery person claiming a package will arrive soon. The text message includes a link to a fake web page that tricks the user into downloading FluBot.

Download our threat report to learn how this trojan:

  • steals bank credentials from victims who use the affected banking entities’ mobile applications on their devices
  • includes functionality that allows attackers to see text messages received on infected devices
  • uses overlays/phishing injections that detect and display when victims open legitimate applications
